- In 1974, Paul Warfield signed a contract
- to play with a new league, the World
- Football League (WFL). The WFL
- promised to make football more exciting
- by changing some of the NFLΓÇÖs rules.
- Balls for kickoffs were placed at the
- 30-yard line instead of the 35 so there
- would be fewer touchbacks and more
- kick returns. A 2-point conversion
- attempt was added, meaning that after a
- touchdown a team could either kick a
- point after for one point or try to score
- two points by running or passing into
- the end zone from beyond the two-yard
